What is Creative Gig?

Creative Gig is an end-to-end workflow management platform that allows Creatives to manage their freelance business. Basically, it’s a suite of productivity and workflow tools specifically designed for Creative Freelancers to help them sell their services, accept client payments, get paid and to collaborate with their clients in a unified, cloud-based environment. Created by Creatives for Creatives.

We believe that Creatives should get paid what their are worth, which means they charge Fair Market Value for their services. We also believe that crowdsourcing is not the best way to do business as a freelancer as it leverages the time of a group of people and only rewards one individual per contest, which is a lot like spec work.

Is Creative Gig a marketplace?

No – we are a Technology Platform that allows two parties (Creative & Client) to transact and collaborate together on creative projects. Most marketplaces have two sides, but unlike a marketplace, users within Creative Gig cannot search for and find projects/gigs/clients, etc.

A good example of a platform is Shopify, which allows their users to have an e-commerce storefront to sell products to their customers. You can’t search for their user stores and as a user you must bring your own clients/customers.

What’s wrong with the process I already have?

Nothing, if you don’t mind about 5+ steps within several apps, subscriptions, logins, etc. via a non-integrated, homemade workflow.  😎  Although the process you use now may include great online apps and tools, they aren’t connected to each other (apart from Adobe Creative Cloud). Additionally, each app has it’s own interface and experience that may have user experience issues when you put them all together.

Creative Gig is an integrated and unified user experience, which we will continue to add additional features as we continue to grow, which will only deepen the overall value for our users.

Does Creative Gig integrate with other tools or platforms?

Not yet! But, we have plans to integrate with various other platforms to make the user experience the best we can.

Can I invite my team and more than one client?

Sorry, but not at this time. We currently only allow one (1) Creative and one (1) Client per order. In the future, we will allow more than one client per Workspace.

What countries is Creative Gig available in?

Currently, only the U.S. and Canada. We will have an international rollout plan as of the first of the new year.

What are the fees involved?

We charge 7.9% transfer fee. This includes 5% for the company and 2.9% + .30¢ for Stripe. As mentioned on “How much does it cost?”, the transfer fees are automatically included in your prices, which is what the client will see and pay. The goal is to have your clients to not only pay for your time, but also for the cost of doing business with you. Using the Creative Gig platform can be considered one of your fees. If the “Include Fees” check is not selected, the fees will come out of what is paid to you. Every large organization (agency, corporation, etc.) charges their clients fee for everything they do, and we believe so should you.

Is there a monthly charge?

No – to use the app, there is no monthly charge. You can completely populate your Showcase, add Order Pages, make Estimate and send them to your clients. Once there is a payment transaction, we will charge 7.9%, which is automatically rolled into the price, and passed onto the client. Is that fair? Absolutely. If the “Include Fees” checkbox is unselected, you will pay the fees.

What is the overall payment experience for clients?

We use Stripe Checkout for our paywall. Clients will pay 100% upfront for the project with any major credit card or debit card. Those funds go into your secured escrow that has been built on top of the Stripe platform. Based on the payment terms selected (50/50 or Daily Payments), the initial amount owed for the Creative is sent out immediately. The outstanding balance is released once the client has approved the work and marked the project as “complete”.

Can I use my Paypal account?

Not yet – we are working on it. For now, we exclusively use Stripe to accept payments from clients and to make payments directly to your bank account.

How secure is Stripe?

Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. To accomplish this, Stripe makes use of best-in-class security tools and practices to maintain a high level of security at Stripe.

How do I get paid?

We use Stripe to accept payments from clients and to make payments to you directly to your bank account. To set up Stripe, go to the Dashboard in the app and select Settings from the left nav. Once there, select the Payments tab and select the “CONNECT WITH STRIPE” button to link your Creative Gig account to Stripe. If you don’t have a Stripe account, you can sign up for a Stripe account on the same page.

Once your Stripe account is completed, any payments that are cued up are immediately sent out. The Stripe platform uses the ACH (Account Clearing House) system for sending funds directly to your bank, which takes between 1-3 business days (excluding holidays).

Does it cost me anything to receive money?

No – We use Stripe Connect for making payouts to Creatives. There is no charge to receive payments via Stripe Connect.

What are the payment terms that I can offer clients?

Currently, we offer two types of payment terms:

  1. 50% deposit / 50% on completion
  2. Daily payouts

50/50 terms is just how it sounds: You will receive 50% at the beginning of the project 50% at the end.

Daily payment terms means we take the total amount due and divide it by the number of days in the project. We do this to mitigate potential risk on both sides in case there is a cancellation.

50/50 Example: $500 project/5-days
You are paid $250 on Day 1. On Day 5 (if the project is completed) the client marks the project completed, the balance of $250 is sent to your bank.

Daily Example: $500 project/5-days
You are paid $100 each day on Day 1 through Day 4. On Day 5 (if the project is completed) the client marks the project completed, the balance of $100 is sent to your bank.

Does it cost clients anything?

There are no monthly charges for both Creatives and their clients. If you choose to keep the automatic setting of the 7.9% fees rolled into your prices, your clients will pay the services fees. Just remember, if the “Include Fees” checkbox is unchecked on both Order Pages and Estimates, you will pay the fees. 😉

How do I receive an outstanding balance?

Clients must mark a project as “Complete Project” located within the more (•••) menu on the left nav, within a Workspace, in order to release the final and outstanding balance.

If a client does not mark the project as complete within 30 days of the initial timeframe, the project will be automatically marked as complete and payment to the Creative will be issued.

How do I manage my account?

Once you are logged in, within left nav of Dashboard or top right dropdown menu, go to Profile to manage your username, email address, etc. as well as your social media links.

To manage your payment information, go to Settings which has three tabs: Account (to update your password), Email Notifications (to adjust the frequency of emails coming to you) and Payments (to connect or disconnect to Stripe).

How do I cancel my account?

Once you are logged in, within left nav of Dashboard or top right dropdown menu, go to Profile to manage your username, email address, etc. as well as your social media links.

To deactivate your account, which we hope you never do… Go to Settings >> Account and click the “Deactivate Account” link at the bottom of the screen. You will have to double confirm that you really want to do so.
